"The goal of the trip was to encourage a group of undergraduates both to interrogate ideas they may have had linked to salvation narratives of teaching and to help them grapple with genuine dialogue, as made possible through our engagements with teachers and students throughout Guatemala. As we made our way through schools of all levels, most, if not all, situations in high levels of poverty, we found many opportunities to make music with everyone we met." (Benedict, 2021, p. 81).

Over the course of my time at Western, I actively sought out meaningful ways to become involved in the community. Through these activities, I discovered a passion for teaching that has motivated much of what I have accomplished thus far. I know it is this passion that will continue to inspire me to further pursue my studies in music and promote education worldwide. From volunteering with various community organizations to engaging in meaningful teaching experiences, I have enjoyed getting to know the Western and global community more and hope to continually engage myself in the years to come.
