During the 2018-2019 academic year, I was chosen to represent Western's Choral Department as one of the Co-Chairs for the first ever Choir Council at the Don Wright Faculty of Music! In our first semester as a council, we successfully established Western as the first ever Student Chapter Branch of Choral Canada. We have been featured in their music journal, Anacrusis, for the spring/summer 2019 edition.
The subsequent year (2019-2020), I was elected to be President and was excited to see what we could continue to accomplish! After its second year, the council grew and expanded to feature a five member executive team with eight choir representatives. As my time came to an end with the council, I was asked to write an additional article for Choral Canada about our progress and accomplishments over the 2019-2020 academic year, which I have included below as well.
I will forever be grateful to have been part of such a monumental moment for the Don Wright Faculty of Music's Choral Department and will cherish the memories and progress we made in the years to come. I look forward to hearing about the council's future accomplishments under its new leadership as it continues to grow, evolve and inspire choral leadership at Western and beyond!
